Helget, Bluejays close door on Grizzlies in 8-7 win

ESSIG — The Essig Bluejays squeaked past the Searles Grizzlies 8-7 on Sunday in a Tomahawk East League baseball game.

The Bluejays scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings and were able to hold to Grizzlies to just one run in the top of the ninth to secure the win.

Jay Helget got the win for the Bluejays, having held the Grizzlies to one earned run on two hits in two innings pitched. Eric Scheibel got the no-decision in 4 1/3 innings pitched, while Erich Prokosch pitched 2 2/3 to set up Helget.

Cal Divison got the loss for the Grizzlies in 2/3 of an inning pitched in relief of Collin Helget.

Dan Reinke had a 3-for-4 night with three RBIs and one run scored for the Grizzlies, while Frank Forstner and Dave Hatle had two hits apiece.

Mitch Stueber and Kyle Krzmarzick had two RBIs apiece for the Bluejays, while Tim Kehren scored three runs and Ben Wolf scored two.
