U18 boys runners-up in NSC All American Cup Tournament

NEW ULM — The New Ulm U18 boys soccer team finished second in the NCS All American Cup tournament at the National Sports Center in Blaine, June 16-18.

The tournament included teams from the Upper Midwest and Canada.

New Ulm, the top seed in Bracket B, narrowly lost the final game Sunday to Eagan Wave, the first seed in Bracket A, with a score of 1-0.

New Ulm went into the semi-finals undefeated, having beaten the Inver Grove Heights Heat, 1-0; Tomah FC, Tomah, Wis., 6-0; and Orono Thunder, 3-1.

In the semi-final game, New Ulm defeated Lakes United, second seed in Bracket A, in a dramatic match. The New Ulm boys were down 2-4 into the second half, but clawed their way back to tie the game, sending it into overtime and winning 5-4.
