Nicollet ends Sleepy Eye’s season

NORTH MANKATO — Nicollet defeated Sleepy Eye 5-4 in a Section 2A elimination bracket playoff game in 10 innings.

Nicollet’s Hannah Beckius pitched 10 innings, giving up eight hits with 10 strikeouts and three walks to earn the win.

Brooke Skrien went 2 for 4 with one RBI, Nicole Hall was 2 for 5 with one home run and Taylor Lanz was 2 for 5 with two RBIs for the Raiders.

Kathryn Schreopfer took the loss for Sleepy Eye, pitching 10 innings with eight strikeouts and seven hits.

Lauren Klein was 2 for 6 with one run scored and Mariah Miller was 2 for 5 with a triple and an RBI for the Indians.

Sleepy Eye ends the season with a 9-13 overall record.

Mankato Loyola 7, MVL 1

NORTH MANKATO — Mankato Loyola defeated Minnesota Valley Lutheran in a Section 2A softball playoff game on Saturday morning, ending MVL’s season at 4-17.

Hannah Biedenbender took the loss. She allowed six runs on six hits.

Wabasso goes 1-1 in 3A playoffs

Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg defeated Wabasso 9-2 in the first game, but Wabasso came back to defeat Lac qui Parle Valley 14-6 in the second game to avoid elimination.

In the first game, Emily Benz took the loss. She was 1 for 3 at the plate. Alison Benz was 1 for 2 with a triple for the Rabbits.

In the second game, Emily Benz earned the win and she struck out six. She was also 5 for 5 at the plate with four RBIs.

Alison Benz was 3 for 4 with a walk. Madalyn Heiling collected a pair of hits including a three-run double. Megan Rothmeier also had a triple in the game.

Wabasso (15-6) plays BOLD Tuesday in Cottonwood.
