All-Journal offense: Fulton, Hillesheim, Schroepfer highlight All-Journal offense

Mitchell Fulton, sr., RB, Wabasso

Fulton broke out into an every-down back for his senior season, rushing for 2,248 yards on 248 carries (averaging 9.1 per carry and 172.9 per game) for 31 touchdowns in helping lead the Rabbits to the state semifinals. For his career, Fulton finished with 3,249 career rushing yards on 430 carries for 43 rushing touchdowns, as well as 33 receptions for 837 receiving yards and six receiving touchdowns. He accounted for 50 total touchdowns in rushing, receiving or passing for the Rabbits and was named the Southwest District, East Subdistrict MVP and Offensive Back of the Year.

Jordan Hillesheim, sr., RB,

New Ulm

Hillesheim rushed for 1,004 yards and seven touchdowns on 178 carries (5.7 average) as a senior. He finished his career as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 3,850 rushing yards — the first player in town history to surpass 3,000 rushing yards — with 33 touchdowns.

Nathan Schroepfer, sr., RB,

St. Mary’s

Schroepfer set a school record for regular-season rushing touchdowns with 15 while rushing for 875 yards on 157 carries (5.6 yards per carry). The All-Subdistrict selection was also had 12 receptions for 242 yards and three receiving touchdowns. For his career, Schroepfer finished with 1,885 rushing yards.

A.J. Buboltz, sr., QB, MVL

Buboltz helped lead MVL to the Section 2A finals, going 97-of-181 passing (53.5 completion percentage) for 1,514 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also rushed for 551 yards and eight touchdowns on 127 carries. For his career, Buboltz was 198-for-355 passing (55.7 completion percentage) for 3,264 yards and 31 touchdowns and rushed for 718 yards and 12 touchdowns on 182 carries.

Caleb Frericks, sr., OT, Wabasso

Frericks is a three-year starter at left tackle for the Rabbits. He earned All-Subdistrict honors and anchored an offensive line for a team that rushed for more than 5,000 total yards this season.

Matt Baumgartner, sr., QB, Madelia

Baumgartner passed for 1,139 yards and 11 touchdowns on 82 completions. He also had 869 yards rushing on 165 carries for 11 rushing touchdowns as well.

Kale Meendering, sr., WR, Springfield

Meendering had 26 catches for 540 yards (20.8 per catch) and two receiving touchdowns this season for the Tigers. He earned All-Subdistrict honors.

Lane Trebesch, sr., TE/RB, Sleepy Eye

Trebesch was a do-it-all player for the Indians, rushing for 442 yards and four touchdowns on 76 carries while amassing 237 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns on offense. He earned All-Subdistrict honors.

Cooper Yackley, sr., WR, New Ulm

Yackley hauled in 21 receptions for 454 yards (21.6 yards per catch) and eight touchdowns for the Eagles. As a kick returner, Yackley had 13 returns for 393 yards (28.1 per return) with two kickoff returns for touchdowns.

Angel Zamora, so., WR, Madelia

Zamora was a prime target on offense, hauling in 40 catches for 568 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also had 294 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns on 43 carries. On special teams, he had 1,001 yards on 27 kickoff returns (37.1 per return) with two returned for touchdowns.

Elijah Northquest, sr., QB, Nicollet

Northquest was 82-for-177 passing (46.3 completion percentage) for 1,124 passing yards and 12 touchdowns to finish second overall in the Raiders’ district for passing yards. He also rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
