CM/C extends winning streak to 9 with sweep of RRC

MORGAN – Cedar Mountain/Comfrey extended its winning streak to nine with a sweep of Red Rock Central 25-21, 25-18, 26-24 in a nonconference volleyball match Monday.
Makenzie Kerkhoff had a big night for the Cougars (12-1), tallying 14 kills and three blocks. Paige Richert had 13 kills and two blocks from the middle, while Erica Bock had nine kills.
Abby Jemmings led the offense, amassing 35 set assists as well as 11 digs and two service aces. Libero Lauren Boyle had 29 digs and a team-high three service aces.
CM/C returns to conference action Tuesday, when it plays at Minnesota Valley Lutheran.
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Martin Luther College volleyball team snapped its four-match winning streak with a 25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 25-20 loss to Macalester on Monday.
The Knights (8-12) lost the first set and then fell behind 8-2 in the second, but rallied to tie the match 1-1.
The Scots (7-9) seized momentum back with a solid third set and then pulled away in the fourth, scoring seven of the final nine points to close the match.
Kira Grev had a big night playing all over the court, finishing with 23 set assists, 12 kills and 12 digs.
Jade St. Germaine was the top MLC hitter with 18 kills and hit percentage of .308 on the attack, but the Knights were unable to get anything going away from their outside hitters.
Ruth Buchholz led MLC with seven blocks, while Megan Lemke and Taylor Weber each finished with nine digs.
MLC will host North Central at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
