New Ulm falls to Kato East
NEW ULM – The New Ulm girl’s tennis team was handed a 6-1 nonconference loss on Friday against Mankato East.
New Ulm’s lone win on the day came at No. 4 singles, where Emma Maudal defeated Kezia Kim 7-5, 6-3. It was Maudal’s second win in as many days as she was the Eagles’ lone victor on Thursday also.
At first singles, Taylor Bolduan lost 6-0, 6-1 to Hannah Weng and Rosie Dobie lost 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to Shaya Bartolo. East’s Sarah Johansen defeated New Ulm’s Sara Guymon 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
In doubles action, Meleah Reinhart and Jane Arnoldt lost 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles to Torey Richards and Kylie Weckwerth.
Breanna Widmer and Shelby Haseman lost 6-0, 6-2 at No. 2 doubles to Macklie Ahrens and Morgan Anderson and at third doubles, Abbey Frauenholtz and Katia Ostermann lost 7-6 (7-1), 6-2 at No. 3 doubles to Cameron Steinberg and Lynsey Rohlfing.
New Ulm will resume Big South Conference action when it travels to Fairmont on Tuesday.
