Oh, I agree, Avoice, he'd be a formidable opponent. Hopalong has already mastered the art of obfuscation.

The guy's a natural politician.

Give it to a foreign country for military aid.

Well as long as there's beer involved I can live with it, Sven. That is, of course, if my wife says it's OK.

Getting her OK will be much harder than trying to log onto the government sponsored beer exchange web site.

You can keep your beer, JR, but you will need to share 28% of it with your fellow ice fishermen (possibly 52%, depending on how much beer you have tucked away) who didn't catch anything, largely because they were out carousing and not being as diligent as you.

There will also be a special tax on your beer which will be used to fund a communal beer party sometime in the distant future. However, you will not be able to participate in the future beer party because you are the wrong race/gender/age/beauty.

Furthermore, all of your past beer purchases will be reviewed to see if you followed the sacred beer rules. If not, all of your beer will be confiscated and given to more needy drinkers, and you will be sent home to answer to your beloved wife...who will not be amused.

I hope this information is helpful to you.

Why not use it to fix our roads and bridges?

Yes Sven, as an ice fisherman one learns that you can never measure beer consumption with a calendar. I was speaking more to product choice than to rates of consumption. Will our government require us to replace our vastly inferior beer with a much better choice which they of course will know best ? And, just what do the good folks at Schells think of this new government mandate ? Will they come forward and provide us with a government approved beer ? Any astute ice fisherman will want to know...

One final point, nice touch buddy you managed to mention the Easter Bunny and Keynesian Economics in the same sentence to which I say - bulls eye !!!

As any self-respecting ice fisherman must know, you can only RENT your beer. So, no, you may not keep your beer even if you like your beer. However, if President Obama says you can keep your beer, JR, I would encourage you to trust him. He is, after all, the commander-in-chief, the leader of the free world, and has a 75% approval rating from those of us who believe in the Easter Bunny, the future of the American automobile industry, and the infallibility of Keynesian economics.

So, there.

Let's reform taxes so we don't have to keep riding this rollercoaster of deficits and surpluses. For now, most of the money should get sent back to the people who paid it in. If we need to fix roads then find a permanent solution to do so. Wasn't that what the increase in the gas tax was supposed to do ?

Sven, if you like your beer can you keep your beer ? ? Just asking... You never know what and whom you can believe anymore.

Declare the first week of July, "Free Beer Week".

Then again, how could you tell?

Not if you go and buy something made in China. Highways are still American made.

We have heard time and time again that extending unemployment benefits means the money will be spent locally. Such action would be a boost to the economy as liberals keep telling us $1 of benefit creates a $1.54 improvement to the economy.. Wouldn't tax refund checks have the same effect?

I voted for "Use it for programs" and by that I meant FIX OUR HIGHWAY SYSTEM. Taxes should also be reformed. Handing out Ventura Refund Checks wouldn't be prudent, in my opinion. We have heard time and time again how MNDOT can't keep up with our failing infrastructure. Here is their golden opportunity.
