Cutting services, like welfare, road maintenance, nursing homes, law enforcement, schools? Is this what you have in mind? If we just cut welfare, I'm not sure that will be enough. I don't really want to see a lot of the other cuts, and I'm not so sure that I want welfare cut to deserving families. Notice that I said deserving. I don't completely like the governor's plan, but it is a conversation starter. I would like to see if we can shift some of the burden from property taxes. I would like to see internet sales taxed to level the playing field for businesses that build stores in our communities.
I like the idea of taxing cigarettes and clothes, but not taxing services. This is going to make it more difficult for the small business owners again.
