Lets go for 300 mil.We need a roof. We can build along the river and eliminate the need for a berm. We cam make a scenic trail along the river. Beer stands, hot dogs, popcorn. Money just rolls in.
Pins: Your second choice is the right one. But I'd argue that the Vikes should be run out of town at gunpoint. They're as good as gone, anyway, so why not let the NFL know how we really feel.
Imagine how lucky the folks in L.A. are going to feel getting a 2-14 team. They'll be begging the Rams to come back, or the Raiders, or maybe they'll just head off to the beach and concentrate on their tans.
My vote is to let them invest in there own system and get private investers to work with them. Private businesses that benefit in the metro area may want to invest. My second choice is to let them go.
Personally I don't really care where they play so long as they stay in Minnesota. Obviously they don't want to stay in the dome, and we can't make them. So how do we keep them from taking all their money out of the state?
Actually I just saw a report on the news the other day that even with the Vikings still plying in the dome this year, they are still in the red.
The Twins are gone. The "U" has TCF stadium now. A few monster truck shows don't pay the bills.
You'd better believe the Vikings aren't going to pay MORE to stay at the Dome, so by trying to keep them at the dome we are garaunteeing financial losses to the State.
Our state law makers cut school funds, LGA (local government aid), infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges and now we want to give more money to the rich! All of these items are job creaters. There will be more budget cuts coming in 2012. We don't need to donate to a stadium. The dome is adequate and is producing revenue for the state and is also supporting jobs.
A stadium in Arden Hills would create many new jobs, jobs that allow decent-paid construction workers to pay taxes. It would spur development which would create hundreds of new jobs in retail and the service industry. I don't like to subsidize billionaires, either, but until other states quit (California)I don't see what choice we have but to pay up or lose the team and all the economic benefits that it provides.
Our priority should be a quarterback, an offensive line, some receivers, a couple of linebackers, a coach, and more hot babes on the sidelines without thick ankles.
Our priority should be to raise state money for schools, roads, infrastructure project. Not to give to billionares. The dome is adequate for all other functions. Why cut vital services to accomodate the rich.
The ignorence of some people on this topic amazes me. Let's clear some things up. When people say "them players make millions let them pay for it" makes zero sense. The players don't own the team. If your boss said they were building a new workplace and you had to pay for it how would you react? Also good luck signing any free agents if they have to help pay for the stadium. "They have to win a Super Bowl first" I dont even have to comment on that one. "Let the owners pay for it" this stadium would host 10-12 games a year. It will also be used for concerts and other events the rest of the year. The orginazation that owns it would make the money off of these events. The team would not own the stadium, they would lease it just like they do the metrodome. People need to understand that this is just how the business works. the Wilfs are putting up the 3rd largest owner contribution in NFL history. Public funds, whether it be from gambling or taxes, help pay
The Vikings already said they won't play there anymore.
Minneapolis can make a play for a new venue downtown.
The Vikings said they're committed to the Arden Hills site.
If the State of Minnesota wants to keep the Vikings (and their HUGE income taxes) in the state, employ hundreds (if not thousands) of people during construction, upgrade the infrastructure in and around Arden Hills, clean up a toxic site, and create long term employment opportunities in and around Arden Hills, I'd say Arden Hills is the way to go.

I think they will be 3 and 13. If they win three games, our fine state will build them a new stadium in our New Ulm suburbs.

Let's make up our own question.
What do you think the Vikings record will be at the end of the season?
I'm sticking with 2-14.

Add another option--none at all--let them go somewhere else--or let the owners build a stadium.

Our state financial situation should tell us not to get involved in another debt increaser.

Why wait until the season is over? I think this coming Monday the Vikings will learn all they need to know, provided they live through the experience.
