Does the Minnesota Constitution need an amendment to define marriage?

This is a waste of time and money by the government.But besides that I'd like to know WHY we need this law?For those that voted YES on this please tell me how it affects me as a straight single male if gay couple wants to get married?Convince me why I should vote YES on this.
