Welcome to New Ulm

It is a pleasure to extend a warm welcome to you as you enjoy our City of Charm and Tradition. We are sure you will find an exciting activity or celebration regardless what time of year you visit us. We banish winter with Bock Beer Fest, an outdoor festival, at Schell's Brewery, and Fasching at Turner Hall. Both are held the Saturday before Ash Wednesday. This is followed by the St. Patrick's Day Parade, a long standing tradition in this German community. Conventions and trade shows are scheduled throughout the year that cater to a wide variety of interests. German Park is the site of weekly summer concerts by the New Ulm Municipal Band as well as other musical and variety entertainment. Martin Luther College presents 'Shakespeare in the Park', Children's Theater, nationally known speakers and performers, in addition to a large variety of musical events throughout the year. Oktoberfest and the German/American Day Parade mark the beginning of fall. The first weekend of November ushers in the shopping season, followed by the induction of honorees into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame. The Parade of Lights and a visit by St. Nick and his helper, Krumpus, thrill young and old alike. After a visit to any of these events, you will think of New Ulm as your second home.
