To the editor:
Our communities, along with the Lower Sioux community, are holding a clothing & household drive to be held on September 11th & 12th at Tersteegs parking lot from 8:00am to 8:00pm.
This drive is to help out the people of the Crow Creek Indian Reservation in South Dakota which is one of the poorest in the United States. In 2010 we went to the Rosebud Reservation and in 2011 we went to the Pine Ridge and it was outstanding! Let's do it again!
Please open your hearts and give what you can. Mission work means filling a need and the need is there!
Needed: Clothing, diapers, blankets, shoes, dishes, school supplies, furniture, winter items, bikes, non-perishable foods (dried and canned). Garden produce like potatoes and squash would travel well. Donations of cash would allow them to purchase perishable foods and also to help support our trip.
Please be considerate and bring clean and usable clothing and items, and no electronics.
If you need someone to pick up your donations (we're working on finding a place to store ahead of time), or can help to load the trucks on those days, please call 507-637-5108 and someone will get back to you as soon as possible.
From our communities to theirs, let's lend a hand!
