NEW ULM - Marie Landsteiner, 92, of New Ulm died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014 at Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity In New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Tuesday and 7:30-10 a.m. Wednesday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The Christian Mother's Society will pray the rosary at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral.

Marie is survived by her daughters, Judie Landsteiner (Jim Mastroddi) of St. Paul, Diane (Thomas) Franta of New Ulm, Mary (Greg) Kohlhof of New Ulm, Rita (Robert) Peichel of Cambridge, Ruth (Larry) Gollhofer of Park Rapids, Deborah (Dean Sorem) Simonet of Hudson, Wis., Annette Frank of Cornelia, Ga., Kristine (Scott) Kral of Hanska; a son, Paul (Jeanette) Landsteiner of New Ulm; 21 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lois Tuzinski of Minneapolis, Alice (Lauren) Stueber of New Ulm, Jean Dummer of New Ulm, Joan (Jerry) Krzmarzick of Rochester; brothers, Lyle Windschitl of Winthrop, Alvin (Theresa) Windschitl of New Ulm, Curt (Joanne) Windschitl of New Ulm; sisters-in-law, Leora Mae Windschitl of New Ulm and Loretta Windschitl of Motley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Landsteiner; son, Robert Landsteiner; son-in-law, Steven Fleck; and by her brothers, Arnold and Raymond Windschitl.

Marie Ann Windschitl was born Aug. 15, 1921 in Mulligan Township, Brown County to Anton and Frances (Hillesheim) Windschitl. She attended grade school in Comfrey and was a 1940 graduate of Holy Trinity High School in New Ulm. After high school Marie was employed at JC Penney in New Ulm and Green Giant in Le Sueur. She was united in marriage to Joseph Landsteiner on June 5, 1946 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Milford Township where they lived until 2007. Marie was a resident of Ridgeway on German and then Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye since February 2012. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, games, Bingo, embroidering, growing geraniums, and quilting. Marie especially loved wintering at their home in LaBelle, Fla.

Marie was a member of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, Christian Mother's Society and the German Bohemian Society.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to New Ulm Area Catholic Schools and the Divine Providence Home.
