NEW ULM - Two more candidates have joined the District 88 School Board race.
Three four-year terms and two two-year terms are up for election this year.
On Friday, Duane Winter, the current chair of the District 88 School Board, filed for re-election for one of the four year terms. He was joined by Eric Gramentz, a member of the New Ulm Police Department whose wife, Patti Gramentz, served a term on the school board, deciding two years ago not to run for re-election. Gramentz also filed for a four year term.
They join Melissa Sunderman, who file earlier for the four year terms. Two other incumbents, Dennis Deslauriers and Steve Gag, whose seats are up for election, have not filed yet. Deslauriers indicated on Thursday he was undecided. Gag has not responded to messages as to his intentions.
The two year terms are for positions held by Denny Waloch and Christi Dewanz. Both were appointed this year to fill vacancies on the board. Waloch has filed for election, and Dewanz indicated she also intends to file.
Filing closes at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12.
