SEARLES - The Searles Bullheads 35-and-over team improved their season record to 5-4 with a pair of wins this past weekend.
On Sunday the Bullheads faced the Shakopee Chiefs and came away with an 8-4 victory. Shakopee took a 2-0 lead by scoring two runs in the second inning and added one more run in each of the 5th and 6th innings.
Meanwhile, Searles scored one run in the third, five in the fourth, and two more in the fifth. Leading the ten-hit Bullhead attack were Troy Kamm, who went 2-for-4, including a double and two runs scored and Chris Peters with two hits and two RBIs.
Scott Rummel picked up his third win of the season for the Bullheads, scattering nine Shakopee hits, striking out three, and walking four. Peters pitched the seventh inning in relief and struck out two.
On Saturday, Searles hosted the Shoreview Bombers. It was the Bullheads that did the bombing by banging out 13 hits on their way to a 14-3 win in five innings.
Searles led 2-1 after one inning. In the second inning, the Bullheads sent 17 batters to the plate and went on to score 12 runs. Chris Peters had three hits in the game. Getting two hits apiece were John Giefer, plus three RBIs, Scott Rummel, Cory Haala, and Kevin Hulke. All 15 Bullhead players got into the game.
Hulke got his first win of the season. Brant Drill pitched the final three innings for the Bullheads. Shoreview ended with five hits, adding single runs in the third and fourth innings.
This Friday evening the Bullheads will host the LeSueur/Henderson Legends for an 8 p.m. game in Searles. The Legends are currently on top of the Rawlings Division of the River Valley League. Then at 2 p.m. Sunday, Searles travels to Prior Lake to play the Mariners.
