NEW?ULM - Delmar "Del" Schultz, 83, of New Ulm died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 7, at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm with Pastor Jo Anne Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in the New Ulm City Cemetery, Soldiers Rest Section. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the New Ulm Area Comrades of Valor Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Sunday and from 7:30-8:30 a.m. on Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL, in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Monday.

Del is survived by his wife, Luverna Schultz of New Ulm; son, Randy Schultz and his wife, Linda, of Fullerton, California; son, Jeff Schultz and his wife, Beth, of New Ulm; daughter Denise Schapekahm and her husband, Steve, of Eagan; grandchildren, Cassandra Schnackel and her husband, Eric, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Derek Schultz and fiance, Julie Johnson, of Washington D.C., Joseph Schultz and special friend, Brittany DeZeeuw, of New Ulm, Jenna, Tessa, and Callie Schapekahm all of Eagan; stepgrandchildren, Mara and Justin Kapano of California; great-grandchildren, Anissa and Rafe; brother, Roger Schultz and his wife, Marge, of New Ulm. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Delaurice Grams of Scapoose, Oregon, Katherine Gluth and Lois Fromm both of New Ulm, Elaine Bergien and her husband, Milan, of Bloomington; brothers-in-law, Warren Gluth and his wife, Ruth of St. Petersburg, Florida, Fred Hosto and Dale Gluth both of New Ulm; and by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Gladys Schultz; brothers-in-law, Willard and Donald Gluth, Herb Fromm, Edwin Grams, and sisters-in-law, Shirley Hosto, Alice Gluth, DElaine Gluth, and Marlys and Art Lambrecht, a niece, Ruth Burkholder and nephews, Rance and Steve Gluth.
Delmar Virgil Schultz was born in New Ulm on August 1, 1930 to Arthur and Gladys (Harris) Schultz. He graduated from New Ulm High School in 1948. On October 16, 1954 Del was united in marriage to Luverna Gluth at the First United Methodist Church in New Ulm. From December 15, 1953 until December 16, 1955 he served in the U. S. Army as a military police officer, based in Atlanta, Georgia. Delmar was employed for thirty-six years as a petroleum salesman with Community Co-op/Cenex in Essig delivering to many farmers in the area. The kids on his route knew him as the "Sucker Man." Del enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was member of the First United Methodist Church where he was very involved, volunteering for many church activities. Del loved to go places with his camper and he loved bowling, playing cards, and enjoying winters in Arizona with friends.
