NEW ULM - The Public Utilities Commission decided unanimously Tuesday to raise compensation for the Utilities Director position.
City Manager Brian Gramentz said the Personnel Committee looked into other communities for comparisons and could not find any exact duplication of New Ulm. Because the city offers a full range of utilities - including steam, it has one of the most complex departments in the state.
The previous annual compensation range for the Utilities Director was between $100,214.40 and $105,830.40. The increase places the range between $108,451.20 and $114,087.20.
The Utilities Director position is currently vacant. Officials hope this increase will attract several qualified candidates when the job is advertised.
