NEW ULM - The top of the New Ulm Cathedral order certainly seemed to be trouble for the Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart pitching staff on Tuesday.
Cathedral's first three hitters scored a combined eight runs as it defeated BLHS 11-1 in five innings Tuesday in the Tomahawk Conference baseball opener for both teams at Mueller Park.
Nate Palmer earned the win for the Greyhounds. He went three innings and allowed one run on one hit.

Tate Lange took the loss for the Mustangs, allowing eight runs on seven hits through three innings.
Offensively, Gabe Knowles and Palmer each scored three runs and Collin Helget scored two runs. James Herzog also scored a run for Cathedral.
Michael Skillings had three hits and three RBI and Knowles had two hits. The Greyhounds took advantage of several extra outs as the Mustangs committed four errors.
Skillings was one of many Greyhounds who had a big day at the plate.
"I?just saw some good pitches I?liked and had confidence in my swing," he said.?"I did what the coach asked me."
As the No. 4 hitter in the order, its his job to drive in the runners when they reach. And they were reaching plenty for Skillings and company on Tuesday.
"Definitely, they put themselves in scoring position," Skillings said.?"It's the first game of the season and obviously teams are a little rusty. Just putting the ball in play really helps.
Russ Hoffman drove in Knowles and Palmer in the bottom of the first with a two-run single. Cathedral added four more runs in the bottom of the second, highlighted by Knowles' triple that scored Herzog. The Mustangs also committed three errors in the inning and Cathedral led 6-0 after two.
After a Helget RBI single, Skillings drove in two more runs in the fourth. Skillings appropriately ended the game in the bottom of the fifth with a single that scored Herzog.
Trey Weisfennig scored BLHS's only run.
Cathedral (1-0) is at Comfrey/Cedar Mountain on Thursday and BLHS (0-1) is at Springfield on Thursday.
