PUBLIC NOTICE

To all property owners with land along Brown County Roads and Township Roads in the following areas of Brown County:

Albin Township

Cottonwood Township

Lake Hanska Township

Mulligan Township

Sigel Township

Bashaw Township

Eden Township

Leavenworth Township

North Star Township

Stark Township

Burnstown Township

Home Township

Milford Township

Prairieville Township

Stately Township

Brown County and all the Townships in Brown County want to remind everyone that it is against the law to plow and/or plant in a county or township road right of way. It is also illegal to spray a herbicide in the right of way that kills the permanent vegetation. Anyone disturbing a road right of way that kills the vegetation will be subject to misdemeanor prosecution pursuant to statute 160.2715. A planted crop in the right of way may be mowed down and the landowner required to seed these disturbed areas at his/her expense.

The Brown County Highway Department will be out marking the right of way along selected County Roads this year. Townships will be inspecting their right of way throughout the year. The Brown County Highway Department can be contacted at 507-233-5700 with questions and comments.
