Memorial Services will be at noon on Monday, March 3, 2014 at St. Benedict's Senior Community Chapel, St. Cloud for Orlue G. Gottwalt, age 78, who passed away Thursday at St. Benedict's Senior Community in St. Cloud. Rev. Al Stangl will officiate and burial will be at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Williams Dingmann Family Funeral Home, Sauk Rapids and one hour prior to the services Monday at St. Benedict's Senior Community Chapel. Waite Park American Legion Post #428 Auxiliary will pray at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Sauk Rapids.

Orlue was born April 7, 1935 in New Ulm to Rudolph & Angeline (Goblirsch) Schmidt. She married Tom Gottwalt on May 28, 1958 in Wayzata. They lived near Little Rock Lake in Rice for 25 years. Orlue worked at the Sauk Rapids Dairy Bar for 14 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Waite Park American Legion Post #428 Auxiliary. Orlue was a New York Yankee Baseball Team and NASCAR fan, and she enjoyed bingo, gardening, nice clothing, shopping, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was stubborn, passionate in her beliefs, and true to herself.

Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Tom of St. Cloud; daughters, Debra Becker (Bob Updike) of Avon and Julie (Jeff) Condon of St. Cloud; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Orlue was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Mary Jean Kuhlmann.

Memorials are preferred to the Tri County Humane Society or the Lion's Eye Bank.
