Joel Robert Sharp, 44, of Morgan, Mn. died Feb. 17, 2014 at the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota following a massive heart attack.

He is the son of Robert Sharp of Albert Lea and the late Bonnie Sharp of Sleepy Eye.

He is survived by his father Robert and stepmother Gloria Sharp; a brother, Byron Sharp (special friend Jen Soennichsen) of Whitehall, Mt.; a sister, Sandra (Jason) Maher of St. James, Minn.; his grandmother, Lois Hoppe of Truman, Mn. three stepbrothers, Chad (Jill) Citurs of Albert Lea, Mn. Christopher (Gina) Citurs of Farmington, Mn. and Cory (Beth) Citurs of Plymouth, Mn.; special nieces, Crystal (Francois) Uys of Sleepy Eye, Heather (special friend Matt Wenk) Neid of New Ulm, Samantha Mlsna of Madison,Wi.; nephew, T.J. (Taylor John) Sharp of Whitehall, Mt.; and great-niece, Lilyanna Uys of Sleepy Eye; and many aunts and uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Wait Sharp; grandmother, Ellen Wait Horner; stepgrandfather, Melvin Horner; grandfather, Douglas Wait; grandfather Lorin Sharp; stepgrandfather Milford Hoppe; aunt, Suzanne Hoppe, and uncles, Timothy Hoppe and Boyd Wait.

Joel was born March 4,1969 in New Ulm. He attended pre-school in Huntley/Granada, K-1 in Truman and 2-12 in Sleepy Eye public. He worked for Kerkoff Trucking of Redwood Falls until his death. He was a truck driver, mechanic/welder most of his life and worked at several jobs including Arctic Cat, Thief River Falls; Mathiowetz Const., Sleepy Eye; New Ulm Recycling, New Ulm. He enjoyed hauling sugar beets up in northern Minnesota.

He spent most of his life growing up in the Sleepy Eye area. He enjoyed snowmobiling and four wheeling with his nearly life-long friends and neighbors Ryan and Larry Helget, and B.J. Cook who were at his bedside with his family during the two weeks before he died.

There will be a memorial service in the spring in Sleepy Eye that will be announced at a later date when the weather is safe for all his family and friends to attend.
