Belle Plaine holds off New Ulm

Belle Plaine 80, New Ulm 71

BELLE PLAINE - Belle Plaine downed New Ulm Friday night in a nonconference boy's basketball game.

Jared Spence led the Eagles with 17 points and six rebounds. Grant Kannegiesser scored 15 points and he had eight rebounds. Jackson Yackley and Tanner Ogren each scored 10 points. Yackley also had six assists.

New Ulm (4-20) will play at Marshall on Tuesday.

JCC 75, Redwood Valley 65

REDWOOD FALLS - Jackson County Central defeated Redwood Valley in a Southwest Conference boy's basketball game on Friday night.

Joe Smith led the Cardinals with 18 points. Sam Pendleton scored 17 points, Adam Hengel added 12 and Taquez Perkins scored 10.

Redwood Valley (19-5, 9-3) will host Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop on Monday night.

BLHS 68, Sleepy Eye 49

SLEEPY EYE - Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart defeated Sleepy Eye Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball game.

Tate Lange scored 31 points for BLHS. Kyle Kubesh added 13 points and Kyle Mellies scored 10 points.

Brandon Polesky led Sleepy Eye with 19 points while Austin Trebesh and Ruben Astorga each scored 10 points.

Sleepy Eye (7-16, 3-12) will host Springfield on Tuesday night. BLHS hosts Lester Prairie-Holy Trinity on Monday.

CM/C 60, Wabasso 57 (OT)

MORGAN - Javin Larsen hit a 3-pointer from 25 feet at the buzzer in overtime to help Cedar Mountain/Comfrey edge Wabasso Friday night in a Tomahawk Conference boy's basketball game.

Larsen led the Cougars with 16 points, seven assists and six rebounds. Chandler Rose added 15 points and 10 rebounds. Preston Mauer scored 15 points all on three-point shots.

Tanner Bock led the Rabbits with 21 points. Neil Eichten added 12 points. Beau Taylor and Matt Zeug each scored 10 points.

CM/C will play at St. James on Monday night. Wabasso will travel to Minnesota Valley Lutheran on Monday.

St. James Area 81,

St. Peter 76

ST. JAMES - Ryan Menssen and Walker Froehling combined to make 23-of-26 free throws down the stretch to help St. James edge St. Peter Friday night in a South Central Conference boys basketball game.

Zach Brandts led the Saints with 33 points and 10 rebounds. Menssen scored 15 points. Froehling added 13 points and he had eight assists.

Kolin Bartlett led St. Peter with 22 points and Tommy Steidler added 18 points.

St. James (17-5, 6-4) will host Cedar Mountain/Comfrey on Monday night.
