Liberty, Mo. - Josephine Schneider, 97, of Liberty, Missouri and formerly of New Ulm died Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Ashton Court Care Center in Liberty, Missouri.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Tuesday, February 18, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Monsignor John A. Richter celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 9 - 10:30 AM Tuesday, February 18, at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm.

Josephine is survived by her daughters, Mary (Bill) Obert of St. Louis Park, Joan (Vern) Sevcik of Liberty, Missouri; grandchildren, Krys (Pranob) Bhattacharya, Sarah (Ben) Roy, Jacob Obert, Corrine (James) Allee, Ryan (Liz) Sevcik; five great grandchildren; her brother, Frank Anastasi, of Chula Vista, California; and by sister-in-law, Hazel Schneider of New Ulm. She was preceded in by her parents; husband, James; a sister, Theresa; and by her brothers, Michael and Vincent.

Josephine Julie Anastasi was born March 19, 1916 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Joseph and Lucia (Cassi) Anastasi. She was a graduate of Waverly Central High School in Waverly, New York. Josephine was united in marriage to James Schneider on March 1, 1949 in Waverly, New York. After marriage the resided in Waverly, New York, Elmira, New York, New Ulm, Roswell, New Mexico and then Frost. After the death of her husband, she lived in Falls City, Nebraska, Springfield, Missouri and Liberty, Missouri.
