ST. PAUL Minnesota Farmers Union member Brent Imker of Lamberton has been appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to an agricultural group representative position on the Next Generation Energy (NextGen) Board.
"The NextGen Board plays a very important role in our state. The members make recommendations as to where our state should head in the field of renewable policy, and I am confident Brent will represent the family farmer well in this capacity," said Doug Peterson, Minnesota Farmers Union president.
According to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, the NextGen Board has a role to, "to develop bioenergy policies and recommendations to the Minnesota Legislature. The Board will research and recommend how the state can invest its resources to most efficiently achieve energy independence, agricultural and natural resources sustainability, and rural economic vitality."
