Nicollet County commissioners approve property tax hikes

January 30, 2014
The Journal

ST. PETER - Nicollet County commissioners unanimously approved preliminary changes to proposed 2014 property values for taxes payable in 2015 Tuesday.

Proposed property valuation increases are 20 percent for tillable land with a 10 percent increase to the bottom three tillable land classes. County Assessor Doreen Pehrson proposed increasing St. Peter townhouse and patio homes values by 10 percent and 5 percent to other St. Peter structures and various land changes to townhouse and patio homes and 5 percent hikes to Courtland, Nicollet and North Mankato city residential structures.

(Note: This article is a correction of the previously posted article. The previous article erroneously stated that property tax rates on tillable land were going up 20 percent. It is actually the property valuations which are used to figure taxes that are increasing.)
