New Ulm Cathedral defeats Mustangs

New Ulm Cathedral 60, BLHS 29

HECTOR - New Ulm Cathedral crushed Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart Tuesday night in a Tomahawk Conference girl's basketball game.

Karlee Pfaff led the Greyhounds with 18 points. Lindsay Simon added nine points and Megan Laraway scored eight points. Exchange student Annika Edl scored her first two career points in the game.

Hannah VanderVoort scored nine points for BLHS.

New Ulm Cathedral (9-5, 6-5) will host Springfield on Friday.

Wabasso 71, GFW 58

WABASSO - Wabasso remained undefeated with a win against Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop in a Tomahawk Conference girl's basketball game on Tuesday night.

Chesley Guetter scored 25 points and had nine rebounds for Wabasso. Karlee Eichten scored 11 points with eight rebounds. Morgan Frank added 15 points and had 10 rebounds.

Halley Busse scored 26 points for GFW while Alexis Kruggel added 12 points.

Wabasso (15-0, 10-0 Tomahawk) will play at Sleepy Eye St. Mary's on Friday night.

St. James 73, Nicollet 52

NICOLLET - St. James earned a win in its girls' basketball nonconference match up against Nicollet on Tuesday.

The Saints were led by Allison Brandts and Emily Bottem with 16 points a piece.

Natasha Young-Cruz led the Raiders with 16 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double. Emily Skrien added 13 points.

St. James (5-11, 1-6) hosts New Ulm on Thursday, while Nicollet (3-10) plays at home against Lake Crystal/Wellcome Memorial on Thursday.

Springfield 55, CM/C 36

SPRINGFIELD - Springfield defeated Cedar Mountain/Comfrey in a girls' basketball Tomahawk Conference game on Tuesday.

Bridget Fenger led the Tigers with 12 points. Joeli Arnoldi and Therese Roiger each had 11 points and seven rebounds.

The Cougars were led in scoring by Brianna Lund with 12 points.

Springfield (7-7, 6-4) will travel to play at New Ulm Cathedral on Friday, while CMC (9-6, 6-6) plays at home against Sleepy Eye on Monday.
