STEWART - A 55-year-old rural Stewart man was found dead at 10:52 a.m. Monday about 2 1/4 miles from where his vehicle was earlier discovered stuck in the middle of the road near the intersection of McLeod County Road 7 and 70th Street, south of Stewart.
The McLeod County Sheriff's Office got a report at 8:21 a.m. Monday of a missing man whose car got struck in snow and had not been heard from since about 11 p.m. Sunday. About 20 sheriff's office and Stewart firefighting personnel searched the area on foot, on snowmobiles and other vehicles before the man was found deceased, according to a sheriff's office news release.
More details will be released after the victim's family has been notified. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office is assisting with an investigation.
