NEW ULM - Former Farm-City Hub Club past presidents Pete and Linda Neigebauer received the 2014 Service to Agriculture Award on Monday at the New Ulm Country Club.
In his 25th year as an agribusiness instructor at South Central College, North Mankato, Pete Neigebauer has taught more than 1,000 young people who returned to the home farm or went into ag business. A New Ulm High School ag teacher from 1979 to 1989, he was recently named the Post Secondary Ag Teacher of the Year by the Minnesota Farm Bureau.
He recently helped develop an online swine management educational program.

Linda Neigebauer has more than 30 years experience in banking including the past 13 years at Alliance Bank, where she is an assistant vice president. She is a charter member of the Kiwanis Club of New Ulm and is active on the New Ulm Chamber's Willkommen Committee. The couple does custom farrowing of 1,350 sows for Langforst Pork and farm 200 acres.
"I don't know when they sleep," said Dale Hartman, who works with Linda Neigebauer at Alliance Bank.
"They're good servants of our Lord, their family and community. I appreciate the role they play as good citizens," said South Central College Dean of Agriculture Brad Schloesser.
Pete Neigebauer said his philosophy is "either you are the solution or the problem." He said he and his wife have been truly blessed with their family life in a wonderful community that likes volunteerism that really makes them feel like they're a part of things.
"We're truly honored and humbled to get this award. Thank you all very much," Linda Neigebauer said.
Incoming Hub Club President John Luepke said he's got big footsteps to follow but he hopes everyone in the club continues to volunteer, "because there is still a lot of work out there."
Other 2014 Hub Club officers are 1st Vice President Beth Fluegge, 2nd Vice President Dennis Sjogren, Secretary Ruth Klossner, Treasurer Doug Schottle and Membership Chair Randy Schroeder.
