NEW ULM - For Michelle Malecha, three months in Germany wasn't enough.
Malecha, who traveled to Ulm, Germany, last year through the Hans Joohs Exchange Program that is part of the New Ulm Sister Cities program, is heading back to Germany next week, where she will have a full-time job teaching English.
Malecha taught English to 5th through 12th grade students in Ulm last year as part of Hans Joohs program.

Michelle Malecha, the 2013 Hans Joohs Exchangee intern from Minnesota to Ulm, Germany, speaks at the New Ulm Sister Cities Commission about her experience on Monday.
"About halfway through the exchange period I decided I wanted to spend more time in Germany," she said.
When a co-worker at the school gave her a tip about a position teaching English at the Berlitz School in Ulm, Malecha scheduled a job interview and was hired.
The Berlitz program focuses on language instruction, and it features native speakers in classrooms.
Malecha said she will be speaking English in the classroom, but speaking German the rest of the time.
Malecha will be living in an apartment in Ulm instead of with host families, as she did with the Hans Joohs program. However, she will have plenty of friends she already made during the exchange program.
She highly recommends the Hans Joohs program to anyone interested in Germany.
Applications for the program are being taken now through Jan. 31.
The recipient of the Hans Joohs award will live up to 12 weeks in or near the City of Ulm, Germany. The New Ulm Sister Cities Commission will provide transportation to and from Germany and a modest stipend. Candidates must be within the age group of 18 to 35 years old and have fair-to-good German language skills. Applicants should be from the New Ulm area or have ties to New Ulm.
