Busse leads Thunderbirds to victory

GFW 53, Sleepy Eye 52

WINTHROP - Halley Busse scored 20 points for Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop Friday in a win over Sleepy Eye in a Tomahawk Conference girl's basketball game.

GFW's McKenzie Elder scored eight points and Claire Leitheiser made three of four free throws to lead GFW to a win.

Sleepy Eye's McKayla Ahlrich led with 16 points and eight rebounds. Josie Schieffert finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and eight blocks.

GFW (3-6 overall, 2-4 Tomahawk) will host Montevideo Tuesday.

Sleepy Eye will host St. James Monday.

Wabasso 67,

Spingfield 65

SPRINGFIELD-Wabasso edged Springfield in a Tomahawk Conference girl's basketball game Friday.

Wabasso's Chelsey Guetter scored 32 points and had seven rebounds. Morgan Frank added 15 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks.

Springfield's Joeli Arnold scored 17 points and had 10 assists. Amy Davis scored 14 points and had five assists and Taylor Milbrath added 14 points and four rebounds.

Wabasso (10-0 overall, 6-0 Tomahawk) will play at Red Rock Central Saturday.

Springfield (4-4 overall, 3-3 Tomahawk) will play at Redwood Valley Monday.
