MORGAN - Cedar Mountain/Comfrey defeated Madelia 80-65 in the consolation game of its home tournament on Saturday in a nonconference boy's basketball contest.
Javin Larsen led the Cougars (3-6, 1-3 Tomahawk) in scoring with 16 points. Brady Kerkhoff had 14 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists for the Cougars. Chandler Rose and Andrew Richter also had 14 points apiece.
Madelia (3-7, 1-3 Valley) did not provide individual stats from the game.
CM/C will host Sleepy Eye next Friday, while Madelia will play at Mountain Lake Area.
New Ulm Cathedral 70, Hope Academy 55
NICOLLET - New Ulm Cathedral won its second game of the Nicollet Invitational, beating Hope Academy 70-55 in a nonconference boy's basketball game on Saturday.
Collin Helget led the Greyhounds (3-7, 1-3 Tomahawk) in scoring for the second-straight game with 19 points and seven rebounds.
Jack Schwartz had 16 points, while James Herzog added 10 with four steals.
Cathedral returns to the court on Jan. 7, when it faces Tomahawk Conference rival Sleepy Eye at 7:30 p.m.
Cathedral defeated Hope Academy 48-42 in the B-squad game. Tyler Mack led the team with 17 points.
Albert Lea 54, New Ulm 52
WINDOM - Albert Lea squeaked by New Ulm 54-52 in the second day of the Windom boy's basketball tournament on Saturday.
Tyler Dittrich led the Eagles (2-9, 0-3 South Central) with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Grant Kannegiesser had 12 points and Jarin Spence added 10.
New Ulm returns home to face Waseca in a conference game at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
Norwood-Young America 79, BLHS 31
NORWOOD - Buffalo Lake-Hector-Stewart fell prey to tournament host Norwood-Young America 79-31 in nonconference boy's basketball action on Saturday.
Kyle Kubesh led the Mustangs (3-5, 2-2 Tomahawk) with 10 points. Kyle Mellies added five points and Tate Lange had four.
BLHS returns to the court at Wabasso at 7:30 p.m. on Friday in Tomahawk Conference play.
