To the editor:
In mid-October we were informed that paper applications would be accepted to meet the Jan. 1, 2014 (health insurance) coverage date.
On Dec. 5 we were informed that they (MNsure) cannot process paper applications due to systems issues at this time. We had to inform all enrollees we helped to go online to make sure that they meet the Dec. 23rd deadline.
I really feel sorry for all the people that need the technical help necessary to get enrolled, let alone the knowledge of insurance products to choose from.
Doesn't the government realize that all people do not have a computer, or the skills to use one, if they do?
Insurance companies have used paper applications for well over 100 years. It seems to me that after 55 years in the insurance business using paper applications, MNsure should put its efforts toward this method of solving its glitches.
