Elliott, Christenson named Southern Confederacy East Players of the Year

NICOLLET - Nicollet's Dalton Elliott was named the Southern Confederacy Conference East Division Offensive Player of the Year while Matt Christenson was named the Defensive Player of the Year, according to a news release on Monday.

Nicollet coach Tom Murphy was also named Coach of the Year for the East Division after leading his team to an undefeated regular season and a state tournament berth.

Christenson and Elliott were also All-Conference selections, joining teammates Jay Hendrycks, Colin Bloemke and Matt Fischer with the honors. Elliott, Hendrycks and Bloemke will return as seniors next season.

Junior Andrew Radke and senior John Scheurer were named All-Conference honorable mentions for Nicollet.

Nicollet's five players selected was the highest among East teams and tied Mountain Lake Area for the most in the entire conference.

Madelia had four players earn All-Conference selections, including Jack Bergeman, Riley Benzel, Jesus Lopez and Jake Denn. Denn, a junior, is the only non-senior of their selections.

Kyle Schultz and Jack Kortuem were named All-Conference honorable mentions for Madelia, which finished 8-3 losing to Nicollet 28-12 in the Section 2 9-Man title game on Nov. 1. coach Tom Murphy was also named Coach of the Year for the East Division after leading his team to an undefeated regular season and a state tournament berth.
