NEW?ULM - Matthew Gulden Sr., 86, of New Ulm, died Monday, November 4, 2013 at the Oak Hills Living Center in New Ulm.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, November 8, at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm with Father Tony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 7:30-10 a.m. Friday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home NORTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. The St. John's Court of the Catholic Order of Foresters will pray the rosary at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Matt is survived by his daughters, Paulette (Jim) Gieseke and Peggy Gohr, both of New Ulm; sons, John (Laura) Gulden, Daniel Gulden and Matthew Gulden Jr., all of New Ulm; 13 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; sisters, Cyrilla Portner and Carol Ludwig, both of New Ulm, Mercedes (Robert) Pelzel of Sleepy Eye, LaVonne (Roland) Bode of Walker; brothers, Milton Gulden, Leander Gulden Jr. and Kenneth (Marcie) Gulden, all of New Ulm.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Coletta on January 25, 2008; grandson, Benjamin Gulden; two sisters; a sister-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.
Matthew Alfred Gulden was born March 30, 1927 in Cottonwood Township, Brown County to Leander and Bernice (Ernsterhoff) Gulden. He was united in marriage to Coletta Brunner on November 10, 1948 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage they farmed in Cottonwood Township. Matt enjoyed having coffee and conversation with friends and also visiting with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters and Turner Hall.
