LAFAYETTE - Wallace C. Johnson, 89, of Lafayette died Friday, October 25, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Society in Winthrop.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette with Father Anthony Hesse celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, North Chapel, in New Ulm and will continue for one hour prior to the time of service at the church on Tuesday. To leave an online condolence for his family or to sign the guestbook go to: www.mvfh.org.

Wallace is survived by his wife, LaVone Johnson of Lafayette; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Stephen Morson of Lafayette, Jackie and Tim Wlasiuk of Gaylord; sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Sandy Johnson of LeSueur, Tim and Coreen Johnson of Lafayette; grandchildren, Nick (Lauren) Morson, Alissa Morson, Amanda Johnson, Robert Johnson, Jordan Wlasiuk; great granddaughter, Brielle Morson; sister and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Ruben Gasow of Glencoe; sister-in-law, Lucille Johnson of Kensington. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sydney Johnson; and a sister, Marian Johnson.

Wallace Clayton Johnson was born on October 2, 1924 in Lafayette to August C. and Amy Eleanore (Olson) Johnson. On April 21, 1954 he was united in marriage to LaVone Lorentz in North Mankato. They farmed in Bernadotte Township, Nicollet County until 2000 when they moved to Lafayette. Wallace and LaVone hosted many foreign agricultural students over the years. He had been a 4-H leader, Cub Scout Master, and a director of the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association. Wallace was a member of St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church in Lafayette and had been a member of the Lions Club in Lafayette.
