The Journal

Tom is survived by his wife of 52 years, Kathleen "Kitty"; daughters Cheryl Masura (Steve), and Valerie; son Steven; twin grandchildren Grace and Adam Masura; brothers Leo (Patty) and Mike (Sharon); sisters-in-law Eleanor and Diane; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by baby son John Thomas; parents Leo and Emily; sister Clarize; and brothers Don and Dennis.

Tom was born and raised in New Ulm, MN. He served in the Navy for three years after high school. He met Kitty in Chula Vista, CA, where they were married on Oct. 21, 1961. They moved to Long Beach, where they raised their three children. Tom played semi-pro football for eight years. He owned a successful glass company for 20 years, retiring in 1995. Since then he and Kitty enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family, including their two grandchildren. "Grandpa" loved supporting and attending his grandchildren's activities, especially Pop Warner football and cheer. We will all miss him dearly.

Viewing will take place at Luyben Family Mortuary on Tuesday, Oct 29 from 4-7 pm. The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Long Beach, CA, on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at 11:00 am. Please contact Luyben Family Mortuary 562-425-6401. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in memory of Tom.
