SPRINGFIELD - Norbert Wersal, age 80, of Springfield died on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his home in Springfield.

Service will be held at the St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield, on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 at 10:30 am. The clergy will be Father Phil Schotzko. Interment will be at the St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery, in Springfield.

Visitation will be on Monday, Sept. 30, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at St. Raphael's Catholic Church, Springfield.

There will be a parish prayer service on Monday at 4 p.m. at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield.

Norbert Anton Wersal was born on July 31, 1933 in Burnstown Township, the son of John and Francis (Roiger) Wersal. He graduated from Sanborn High School. Norbert entered the U.S. Army on July 21, 1954 and was honorably discharged on June 14, 1956. Norbert was united in marriage to Viola Sellner on Oct. 23, 1956, in Leavenworth. He worked for the Springfield Creamery as a bulk milk driver, Northstar seed, and retired from Del Monte. He was a member of the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, Catholic Order of Foresters, John Watson American Legion in Springfield, Shoe's Crew Card Club, and was an avid Minnesota Twins and Vikings fan.

Norbert died on Friday, Sept. 27, 2013 at his home in Springfield at the age of 80 years.

He is survived by his children, Barbara (Dale) Lindmeier of Springfield, Janet (Terry) Tentinger of Windom, Martin (Kayla) Wersal of Spring Branch, Texas, Michael Wersal and special friend Elaina of Springfield, Douglas (Cori) Wersal of Canton, SD, Dean Wersal of Springfield, Lisa (Tom) Tauer of Effort, PA, and Nathan Wersal of Springfield; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Eleanor (Roland) Trebesch of Portland, Ore., and a brother, Raymond Wersal of Portland, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola in 1981; a sister, Isabella Wersal and a brother, Florian Wersal.
