LAS VEGAS - Colleen (Olsen) Maltby, 78, of Las Vegas, Nev., formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Monday, September 9, 2013, in Las Vegas.
Born May 13, 1935, in Sleepy Eye, where she was raised on the family farm and attended St. Mary's Catholic School with her three sisters. She had been a Las Vegas resident for the last 22 years. Colleen and the love of her life, Don, were married for 52 wonderful years. Her friendly and kind personality made her loved by all. Colleen enjoyed lying by the pool and relaxing in the Las Vegas sun. She loved being serenaded by her husband at the local karaoke saloon. All-Star Grammy, as her grandchildren affectionately called her, was so proud when watching them participate in their numerous sports and activities. As an avid sports fan Colleen loved cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, the Golden Gophers, and her beloved Runnin' Rebels. Colleen was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded by her husband, Don Maltby, daughter, Kim Parr, and brother-in-law, Fred Bruckbauer. Survivors include her son Mike (Sandy) Maltby, son-in-law Jim Parr, son Jeff (Denise) Maltby and daughters Kelly (Darryl) McCullough and Kathy Jo (Robert) Gutierrez; sisters Kathy Bruckbauer, Mag (Richard) Rasmussen, and Lois (Steve) Hillesheim, and 10 beautiful grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Colleen's name are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic School. Arrangements with the Sturm Funeral Home in Sleepy Eye.
