GIBBON - The Gibbon Fairfax Winthrop (GFW) School Board approved the district's Q-Comp (Quality Compensation) status, and plans to fully implement it by Oct. 1.
Superintendent Tami Martin reported that the district was informed by letter from the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) on Friday, Sept. 13 that a new teachers union vote showing agreement, was needed to fund the Q-Comp program following the MDE approval letter. She said teachers approved the process with a 75 percent favorable vote.
Martin said peer coaching training for all staff was done on Sept. 13. October training sessions will involve setting goals and establishing professional learning communities.
She reported the GFW Education Association decided not to include Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) teachers in the union, as they did in the past, after carefully examining the cost to those teachers.
