NEW ULM - Mark Daly joined the New Ulm Park and Recreation Department as the recreation programs supervisor on Aug. 19.
Daly has an extensive history in recreation programs. He served in similar position with the City of Fridley for the past 16 years. Prior to that, he worked with the Spring Lake Park and Recreation Department for eight years.
He grew up in Rochester and earned his degree at Mankato State University. He chose his profession because of the diversity of challenges and projects involved with the job.
He selected New Ulm because he was looking for a change of scenery, and because he was impressed with the high quality of the facilities. He expects the new position to allow him to be more involved and active than his last job.
New Ulm differs from metro cities by having an actual downtown area, he said, and by having a variety of common areas where residents visit together.
"New Ulm is a great town. You have some amazing facilities and great parks. I'm really looking forward to seeing what I can to further that with my new position," said Daly.
