Is it a bird? A plane? No, it's CAPTAIN CHARACTER!

Captain Character, also known as Principal Les Koppendrayer, crashes through a paper sign at the beginning of a Character Counts assembly on the first day of school at Washington Elementary School in New Ulm Tuesday.

The event is to promote good character by focusing on six pillars: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship. A Character Counts trophy will be awarded weekly to a classroom that is being recognized for good character.
