Sleepy Eye finishes tournament with a win

SLEEPY EYE - Sleepy Eye wrapped up Region 2C amateur baseball play with a convincing 8-2 victory over Stark on Saturday.

Alan Woitas earned the win for the Indians. He went 8 2/3 innings, allowing two runs and six hits. He struck out three.

Joey Walter was 2-for-5 with two RBIs for the Indians and Sean Mathiowetz was also 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

Jake Bohnen was 2-for-3 and Scott Salfer was 2-for-4 for the Indians, who finished the Region with a 4-1 record. The Indians will advance to the upcoming Class C State Amateur baseball tournament next week, with the tournament set to begion Friday and resuming Saturday and Sunday. Sleepy Eye will find out who it will play later on this week.

Stark finished the Region 2C tournament with a record of 1-4.
