COMFREY - Richard Arnold Utz, age 70, of Comfrey, MN died on July 15, 2013, at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN.

Service will be held at the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, MN, on Thursday, July 25, at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Father Phil Schotzko.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 25, from 9- 10:30 a.m. at the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, MN.

Richard Arnold Utz was born on March 25, 1943, in Springfield, MN the son of Phillip and Clara (Kraus) Utz. He attended school at St. Raphael's Catholic School and Springfield Public School. He entered the U.S. Army in 1960 and was honorably discharged in 1966 after serving in Germany. He was united in marriage to Gloria Matter on September 30, 1972, at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield. Richard has worked in elevator construction and has also been employed with Ochs Bricks Yard, New Ulm Glass Company, Carlson Brothers Construction, MR Paving, and L&S Construction. He was a member of the Comfrey American Legion and St. Paul Catholic Church in Comfrey. Richard enjoyed fishing, the Minnesota Vikings, polka music, classic cars, attending auctions, and spending time with his grandsons. He was a handyman - a jack of all trades, master of none.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Utz of rural Comfrey; children, Greg (Lisa) Mueller of Princeton, MN and their children - Paul and Sarah; April (James) Bigelow of Sabina, OH and their children - Kameron and Xander; and Adam Utz of Comfrey, MN; siblings, Mary Ann Ochs of Springfield, MN, Shirley (Dale) Hacker of Clements, MN, and Kenneth (Darlene) Utz of Springfield, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Carl, Dennis, Lenis, Donald, and Ronald.
