WILLMAR - Sylvia Mary Watson, 88, of Willmar and formerly of New Ulm, died Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Bethesda Pleasant View Nursing Home in Willmar.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm with Monsignor Douglas L. Grams celebrating the Mass. Burial will follow in the New Ulm City Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday and from 7:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Minnesota Valley Funeral Home, SOUTH CHAPEL in New Ulm. To leave an online condolence or sign the guest book for her family go to: www.mvfh.org.

Sylvia is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Linda Watson of New Ulm, Donny and Norma Watson of Blomkest, Randy and Brenda J. Watson of New Ulm; grandchildren, Brenda, Kevin, Tim, Jeff, Tammy, Jayme, and Ryan, and their spouses; 16 great- grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; sisters-in-law, Marie Grunert of New Ulm and Jan Grunert of St. Cloud; and many nieces; and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Watson on February 27, 1993; parents; brothers, Marvin and Ronald Grunert.

Sylvia Mary Grunert was born February 26, 1925 in New Ulm to Louis and Bertha (Schloegel) Grunert. She was baptized and received her first communion from St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. Sylvia attended New Ulm High School. On November 30, 1945 she was united in marriage to Clarence Watson in New Ulm. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, fishing, dancing, playing cards and traveling. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A strong matriarch, Sylvia held her family together. Sylvia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Ulm. She will be dearly missed.
