NEW ULM - New Ulm Medical Center (NUMC) was recently named to two national Top 100 lists.

iVantage Health Analytics named NUMC to its Top 100 list of Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs) in the country, and the top one in Minnesota. Critical Access Hospitals have 25 or fewer medical beds. The rating system used by iVantage to evaluate hospitals takes into consideration a number of quality measures, the satisfaction level reported by patients, the percentage of patients from a market area that receive their healthcare at the hospital, and the cost of providing the care compared to other hospitals. All of this data is obtained from independent sources.

The Top 100 CAHs consistently achieve high scores in multiple performance categories- NUMC's performance based on this rating system was better than 93 percent of all CAHs. There are 1,267 CAHs across the nation. NUMC was one of nine in Minnesota to be named to this Top 100 list.

Becker's Hospital Review also named NUMC to its 100 Great Community Hospitals list based on the hospitals' quality of care and service to community.

NUMC was one of only three hospitals in Minnesota to be named to this list. The Becker's Hospital Review editorial team selected community hospitals based on rankings and awards from iVantage Health Analytics, Truven Health Analytics (formerly Thomson Reuters), Healthgrades and The Joint Commission.

The hospitals on this list have fewer than 550 beds and are often located in rural areas as the only hospitals in their communities.

According to Becker's Hospital Review, "Whether independent or part of a larger health system, the hospitals named to the 100 Great Community Hospitals list have worked with limited resources to continually provide the quality of care and the experience patients expect."

Becker's Hospital Review listed NUMC as the following: "Thirty-five-bed NUMC is part of 11-hospital, Minneapolis-based Allina Health. The hospital offers outpatient cancer care, emergency care and home care and hospice, and includes a birth center, rehabilitation institute, surgery center and full-service clinic. New Ulm Medical Center was named one of the Top 100 Critical Access Hospitals in the nation by iVantage Health Analytics in 2013 and received Healthgrades' Patient Safety Excellence Award and Outstanding Patient Experience Award in 2013."
