WINTHROP - Dorothy Weitzenkamp, age 95, of Winthrop passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2013, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 8, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop, with Pastor Kyle Kachelmeier officiating. Interment will be in the Winthrop Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 8, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Dorothy Weitzenkamp

Dorothy Helen (Peterson) Weitzenkamp was born on March 19, 1918, in Winthrop. She was the daughter of John Edward and Mina (Ericson) Peterson. Dorothy was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in Winthrop.

On Oct. 15, 1940, Dorothy was united in marriage to Arthur Weitzenkamp at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop. This marriage was blessed with four children. After their marriage Dorothy and Art made their first home in Sibley, Iowa. In 1942, they moved to Uehling, Neb., for a year and then moved back to Winthrop. In addition to being a loving mother and homemaker, she was an Avon salesperson for more than 50 years. The couple shared 64 years of marriage before Art passed away on Feb. 1, 2005.

Dorothy was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Winthrop.

Dorothy enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards, and spending time with her family. Blessed be her memory.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Darlene Mueller and her husband, David of Winthrop, Dennis Weitzenkamp and his wife, Karen of Winthrop, David Weitzenkamp and his wife, Marilyn of Winthrop, and Joyce Weitzenkamp of Mankato; grandchildren, Kimberley Mueller, Tamera Bisping, Todd Mueller, Kraig Mueller, Jeff Weitzenkamp, Jill Ruehling, Jennifer Fogarty, Randy Malecek, Kim Larsen, Greg Malecek, Dana Wilson and Jason Malecek; great-grandchildren, Sarah Mueller, Alexandra Bisping, Nicholas Bisping, Holden Mueller, Clara Mueller, Abigail Weitzenkamp, Peyton Weitzenkamp, Jack Ruehling; sisters, Marjorie Benson of Winthrop, and Eileen Anderson of Winthrop; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, J. Edward and Mina Peterson; spouse, Arthur Weitzenkamp; brother, Donald Peterson; sister, Lois Rosnau; brothers-in-law, Wallace Benson, Don Anderson, and Howard Rosnau.
