SPRINGFIELD - George Frank Hacker Jr, age 84, of Springfield, MN died on June 5, 2013, at his home in rural Springfield.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 9, 2013 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Sturm Funeral Home, Springfield Chapel and will continue on Monday from 9:30 am until 10:30 am at the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, MN.

There will be a Parish Prayer will on Sunday at 4:00 PM at the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield

Service will be held at the St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Springfield, MN on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 10:30 am.

The clergy will be Father Dennis Labat & Father Mark Mallak.

Interment will be at the St. Raphael's Catholic Cemetery in Springfield, MN.

Arrangements are with the Sturm Funeral Home in Springfield, MN.

George Frank Hacker was born on April 7, 1929, in Templeton, IA, the son of George and Esther Hacker. He moved to Morgan as a small child where he attended Country School District #74 for 3 years and then St. Michael's Catholic School in Morgan, and was valedictorian of his class at Morgan High School in 1947. He farmed with his father until 1952. He was united in marriage to Helen Clark at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye on February 18, 1952. George and Helen farmed north of Springfield where they raised 13 children. They were members of St. Raphael's Catholic Church. George enjoyed western films and novels and playing cards with his friends and family. He also began taking violin lessons at the age of 80.

He is survived by his sons - Dan (Lynn) of Sleepy Eye; Mike (Carol) of Goode, VA; Gerry (Rhonda) of Athens, AL; Tim (Laurie) of Hutchinson, MN; Kevin (Tammy) of Glen Allen, VA; Brian (Patty) of Sleepy Eye; Paul of Buffalo, MN; Scott (Dana) of League City, TX; and Chris (Chantel) of St. Louis Park, MN; daughters - Judy (Guy) Harding of Lake Benton, MN; Nancy (Rick) Petersen of Bouton, IA; Peg (Scott) Breiholz of Forest, VA; and Sue (Mark) Theobald, Roseville, MN; 29 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; sister - Delores (Wallace) Wolf of New Ulm, MN; and brothers - David (Karen) Hacker of Morgan, MN and Leo (Mary) Hacker of Minneapolis, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife - Helen; and grandson - Tom Hacker.

George will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
