The Minnesota Safety Council has awarded a Governor's Safety Award to the Mathiowetz Construction Company for superior performance in workplace safety and health.
Mathiowetz Construction was one of 227 employers that was recognized at the awards luncheon at the Minneapolis Convention Center on May 16.
The awards program, which began in 1934, has honored Minnesota employers with exceptional safety performance. Applicants are judged on several years of injury data as it compares with their industry's national statistics, and on their progress in implementing a comprehensive safety program.

The Mathiowetz Construction Company was one of 143 winners of a Meritorious Achievement Award, which recognizes that incident rates are better than the industry average for at least three years, and a score between 50 and 74 on a 100-point safety program evaluation scale.
