Sleepy Eye Police investigate vandalism

SLEEPY EYE - There is an ongoing rash of vandalism and thefts occurring in Sleepy Eye, according the Sleepy Eye Police Department.

Sleepy Eye Police have not yet determined if the incidents are linked, but they are investigating the crimes to make a determination.

The incident began last week with a series of three similar thefts from unlocked vehicles around town on May 23 into May 24. A combined total of over $600 in stolen money, phones, CD players and GPS devices were either taken or ripped out of the car consoles. In addition, one vehicle had a window smashed on separate night and a GPS stolen.

More recently, three similar incidents of spray paint graffiti was splashed over the surface of the Sleepy Eye NAP Auto and Truck Parts, the Servicemen's Club and a stop sign.

Sleepy Eye Police are strongly encouraging resident to lock their vehicles at night. They are also urging residents to immediately report any suspicious activity.
