NEW ULM - Brown County commissioners will act on setting bid letting dates Tuesday for two open ditch clean-outs proposed to be done this fall in Prairieville and Mulligan Townships.

County Ditch 5 in Prairieville Township, northwest of Sleepy Eye, is scheduled for 59,0600 feet of drainage ditch and 16 tile outlets to be cleaned out from Oct. 1 to Nov. 30, according to the Request for Board Action (RBA).

The Highway Department recommends bids be opened at the Highway Department on July 10 at 10 a.m. and bought to the board of consideration on July 16.

County Ditch 28 in Mulligan Township, northeast of Comfrey is scheduled for 36,550 feet of clean out and 10 tile outlets to be repaired this fall, according to the RBA.

Commissioners will also consider:

Eight drainage ditch normal maintenance repair requests ranging in cost from $425 to $2,420 in Albin, North Star, Mulligan, Home, Stark and Prairieville Townships.

Six Planning Commission recommendations from that board's May 14, 2013 meeting.

Signature and submittal of local, state and federal applications plus the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) general permit notification and verification form for water/wetland projects. On May 7, 2013, commissioners approved a proposal to install four stream barbs in the Cottonwood River just upstream of the Stark Township bridge, near Iberia, according to the RBA.

The proposed barbs would aid in slowing down water from the bend, direct water towards the center of the channel and help enhance a proposed erosion control project by Stark Township.

Updated position descriptions for Family Services offices support and Heartland Express positions.

The county board meeting starts at 9 a.m., Tuesday, May 21 in the courthouse commissioner's room.
